Using mods with hotkeys

Quick answer: all mods in Mod Engine are free and usable with hotkeys. To bind or change a hotkey, right-click the mod and choose Set/Change hotkeys, or press CTRL+H. Any key or combination works — Shift+1, Ctrl+1, and so on.

Hotkeys are how the free membership drives Mod Engine — and honestly, how most players prefer to drive it. Instead of switching back to the app mid-game, you flip mods on and off from inside the game itself, exactly like a classic game trainer.

How do hotkeys work in Mod Engine?

When you load a game's mods, each option has an assigned hotkey. As long as Mod Engine is attached to the game process, those keys are live: press one and the corresponding mod toggles on, press it again and it turns off. Every mod in the library works this way on the free membership.

How do I set or change a hotkey?

  1. Right-click the mod and choose Set/Change hotkeys — or use the shortcut CTRL+H.
  2. Press the key you want. Hotkeys can be bound to any key or combination of keys: Shift+1, Ctrl+1, function keys, whatever fits your hand and doesn't clash with the game's own controls.
Tip — games love the F-keys and number row for their own bindings. Combinations like Ctrl+Numpad1 almost never conflict with anything.

Why isn't my hotkey doing anything?

  • The process isn't attached. Hotkeys only work after you've selected the game process. See How to use Mod Engine, step 3.
  • The parent mod is off. In packs with a parent/enable option at the top, child hotkeys stay dead until it's activated.
  • Another program grabbed the key. Overlays (Discord, GeForce, Steam) and macro software can intercept keys. Rebind to a combination and close conflicting overlays.
  • Version mismatch. If the mod itself is broken for your game version, its hotkey is too — run the checklist in Why don't my mods work?

What do Pro members get instead?

Not insteadas well. Pro unlocks the interactive controls inside the app, so you can click options directly and use extra features rather than being restricted to hotkeys only. Hotkeys keep working exactly the same either way.

Frequently asked

Are hotkeys free in Mod Engine?
Yes — all mods in Mod Engine are free and usable with hotkeys. Pro adds interactive in-app controls on top; it doesn't change how hotkeys work.
Can I bind a hotkey to a key combination?
Yes. Right-click the mod and choose Set/Change hotkeys (or press CTRL+H), then bind any key or combination such as Shift+1 or Ctrl+1.
Why do hotkeys work for some mods but not others?
Usually a parent mod hasn't been enabled, or that specific mod doesn't match your game version. The rest of the pack can still work fine.
